Until Government Orders CBI Probe, Protest Will Continue: Ranchi Students Intensify Agitation Over Exam Irregularities

Students protesting against alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations in Jharkhand have vowed to continue their agitation until the state government orders a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. The ongoing protest in Ranchi has entered a decisive phase, with demonstrators rejecting the state government's decision to hand over the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Protesters argue that only an independent agency like the CBI can ensure a fair and impartial inquiry into the allegations surrounding recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

Student representatives participating in the agitation said they would not withdraw from the protest until their demand for a CBI investigation is accepted. They claimed that repeated allegations of exam irregularities and paper leaks have eroded the trust of lakhs of job aspirants in the state's recruitment process. The protesters have also warned of intensifying their movement if the government fails to respond. Plans for larger demonstrations, including a march towards the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, are reportedly being considered in the coming days.

The Jharkhand government has already ordered a CID investigation into the allegations, maintaining that the agency will examine all aspects of the controversy. However, students remain unconvinced, citing previous instances where state-level investigations allegedly failed to address similar concerns or hold those responsible accountable.

Apart from demanding a CBI inquiry, the students are seeking greater transparency in recruitment examinations, stricter safeguards against paper leaks, and accountability for officials involved in conducting competitive exams. Several protesters have also called for reforms aimed at restoring confidence in the state's recruitment system.

The agitation has drawn support from aspirants across Jharkhand, with students from different districts joining the sit-in in Ranchi. Opposition leaders have also backed the demand for an independent investigation, arguing that a credible probe is necessary to restore public trust in the recruitment process. The controversy comes at a time when examination-related irregularities have emerged as a major concern in several states across India. Repeated allegations of paper leaks and recruitment scams have triggered demands for stronger anti-cheating mechanisms, technology-driven monitoring, and faster investigations to protect the interests of genuine candidates.
