United Airlines plane collides with a truck during landing at a US airport.

A United Airlines flight carrying 231 passengers and crew narrowly avoided a major accident on Sunday while approaching New Jersey. During its final descent, one of the aircraft’s landing wheels struck a lamppost and a truck traveling on a nearby highway, creating a potentially dangerous situation.
The Boeing 767, which had departed from Venice, Italy, continued its approach and landed safely at Newark Liberty International Airport. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the safe landing and stated that a full investigation into the incident is underway. Preliminary reports from New Jersey State Police revealed that the aircraft’s landing gear and underside came into contact with a pole and a tractor-trailer as it descended toward the runway. The impact caused the pole to fall and hit a Jeep also traveling on the highway at the time.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew on board the flight. The truck driver involved in the incident suffered only minor injuries, was taken to a hospital for treatment, and later released. Authorities confirmed that the situation could have been far worse given the circumstances.
A representative from the company that owned the truck explained that although the vehicle was not heavily damaged, the plane’s wheel struck the driver's window, resulting in small cuts to the driver. He described the outcome as fortunate and emphasized how close the incident came to becoming a serious disaster. United Airlines stated that it will conduct a thorough safety investigation and has removed the flight crew from service as part of standard procedure. The aircraft manufacturer has not yet issued a response.
