Trump Defends Iran War, Says He Has No Regrets and Would Act Again

US President Donald Trump has defended his decision to launch military action against Iran, saying he has no regrets about the conflict and would make the same decision again if given another opportunity. In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Thursday, Trump said he did not believe in the concept of regret and maintained that the US operation had successfully destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities. He said that while people can always question their decisions, he would follow the same course of action if faced with the situation again.

Trump argued that allowing Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon would have created a major threat to Israel, the broader Middle East and the United States. He claimed that Tehran could have used such a weapon, potentially resulting in devastating consequences across the region and eventually threatening American cities.

While defending the military campaign, Trump also pointed to the performance of the US stock market as evidence that the conflict had not caused significant damage to the American economy. He highlighted the market's record levels and compared its current performance with where it stood when he took office.

Trump also accused Iran of attempting to influence America's upcoming midterm elections. He alleged that Tehran wants to see him politically weakened or removed because Iranian leaders believe a Democratic-controlled Congress would be more willing to tolerate Iran's pursuit of nuclear capabilities. The president insisted that Iran would not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon and said his administration would continue taking steps to prevent that outcome.

Trump's latest comments came amid renewed concerns over activity at Iran's fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear facility. Speaking at a Republican rally in Texas a day earlier, he said US officials had detected what he described as new activity at the site and warned Tehran against taking further steps that could trigger another military response.

The warning followed comments from International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi, who confirmed that the UN nuclear watchdog had observed construction activity at the facility. Trump had issued a similar warning the previous week, saying Iran would not be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon and suggesting that the United States could strike the site if activity continued.

The latest statements underline the continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran and highlight the uncertainty surrounding Iran's nuclear programme. Trump's remarks also suggest that the US administration remains prepared to take further action if it believes Iran is moving toward rebuilding or expanding its nuclear capabilities.
