This week, actor Timothée Chalamet made a surprise return to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in New York, where he graduated in 2013. The A Complete Unknown star dropped by on Wednesday (April 23) to speak with current students and share career advice during a Career Management class.

The school shared highlights from the visit on Instagram, posting photos of Chalamet reconnecting with former teachers, addressing students, and taking pictures with fans. Their caption read: “When Timothée Chalamet is your guest speaker... you know it’s going to be a memorable day. Thank you @tchalamet for offering guidance to our aspiring actors. Big thanks also to his former teachers and principal—Harry Shifman, Sandy Faison, and Kim Bruno—for being part of the visit!”

The 29-year-old actor has previously credited LaGuardia with helping shape his identity and artistic journey. Speaking to Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes earlier this year, Chalamet said the school allowed him to express himself freely and deeply influenced who he is today. He also shared that he once brought the script of A Complete Unknown to his old drama teacher, Harry Shifman, to discuss the role. Chalamet recalled telling Shifman, “If I had gone to a different high school, I wouldn’t have become an actor,” to which Shifman replied that he would have found his path regardless. Shifman praised Chalamet’s talent, work ethic, and kind nature, likening his abilities to those of a gifted artist.

In a separate event last October, Chalamet unexpectedly appeared at a Timothée lookalike contest in Washington Square Park. The gathering, however, ended in chaos when police intervened due to the lack of a permit, resulting in the arrest of four attendees and a $500 fine for organizer Anthony Po.

Interestingly, Chalamet’s team offered to pay the fine, but Po declined. Instead, the fine was covered by digital invite app Partiful. Despite attending, Chalamet didn’t make the top 10 in the lookalike rankings — a fact Po jokingly noted, saying he might have awarded the real Timothée a runner-up spot if he’d stayed longer.
