Taylor Lautner is making a comeback with a new series where he plays a fictionalized version of himself—as a werewolf hunter. Best known for his role as Jacob Black, the shapeshifting wolf in The Twilight Saga, Lautner is set to reimagine his connection to the supernatural in this upcoming Amazon MGM Studios project.
According to Variety, the series follows an alternate version of Lautner, who vanished from the spotlight after filming the last Twilight movie. While fans speculated about his absence, the reality is far more thrilling—he wasn’t just taking a break; he was secretly preparing for his true mission: hunting werewolves.
The show’s storyline sees Lautner balancing two drastically different lives. By day, he attempts to relaunch his acting career and navigate the complexities of love. By night, he is drawn into a covert society of werewolf hunters who rely on his unique expertise. The ultimate irony? He must now battle the very creatures that once made him famous.
The project is being developed by Tornante, the independent studio behind BoJack Horseman and Undone, with Daisy Gardner serving as the creator and showrunner. Lautner was just 16 when the first Twilight film debuted in 2008 and 19 when the franchise concluded with Breaking Dawn – Part 2. He has previously opened up about struggling with sudden fame, revealing in a 2022 interview with Today that he often avoided going out due to overwhelming public attention.
His last major film role was in Home Team (2022), marking his return to movies after a six-year break. On television, he was seen in Scream Queens (2016) and the BBC sitcom Cuckoo (2014-2018). Now, with this intriguing new project, Lautner is set to step back into the supernatural world—only this time, he’s hunting the creatures instead of becoming one.
