Soha Ali Khan Explains Why She No Longer Shares Daughter Inaaya's Photos on Social Media

Soha Ali Khan has opened up about her decision to limit the number of photographs of her daughter, Inaaya, shared online, saying that the digital world has become increasingly concerning and that protecting her child's privacy is now a priority. Speaking at an event, the actor said that she and her husband, actor Kunal Kemmu, were more comfortable sharing pictures of Inaaya when she was younger. However, their approach has changed as they have become more aware of the risks associated with children's images being available on the internet.
Soha pointed out that although Inaaya's face had been shared publicly in the past, that does not mean the family cannot change its approach. She said parents are allowed to reconsider decisions they made earlier, particularly when it comes to their children's safety and privacy. She also highlighted the possibility of photographs being misused online. According to Soha, the decision to avoid regularly posting Inaaya's pictures is partly based on concerns about what can happen to images once they are uploaded to the internet.
The actor further stressed the importance of informed consent when sharing details or photographs of children. She explained that posting extensively about a child's life while they are too young to make that decision themselves could potentially take away their ability to choose what aspects of their childhood they want to keep private later in life.
Soha, daughter of former Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, married Kunal Kemmu on January 25, 2015. The couple welcomed Inaaya on September 29, 2017, and celebrated her eighth birthday in September last year. Kunal has also previously spoken about raising their daughter and allowing her to experience life independently. In an interaction with ANI, he said he wants Inaaya to explore the world, travel, ride a bike, dive, climb mountains and have experiences that he may not have had himself.
The actor has also addressed the family's experience with paparazzi. Kunal said photographers have gradually become a part of their everyday life, although he admitted that the situation became uncomfortable when photographers began using powerful zoom lenses, making it difficult for the family to know when they were being photographed or filmed. Despite that, Kunal said paparazzi have generally respected their requests when the family asks for privacy. For Soha and Kunal, limiting Inaaya's online presence appears to be part of a broader effort to give their daughter greater control over her own digital identity as she grows up.
