Security forces recovered arms and ammunition in Manipur Thoubal district and arrested two active cadres.

Security forces in Manipur recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from Thoubal district while arresting two active cadres linked to banned insurgent organisations in separate operations, police said on Tuesday. According to a statement issued by Manipur Police, the recovery operation was carried out on June 2 at the foothills of the Pechi Chinglak area under Yaripok Police Station in Thoubal district. During the search operation, personnel seized one AK rifle, one double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) gun, and two single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) guns.
The security team also recovered three 36 HE hand grenades, one Chinese-made grenade, four detonators, two INSAS magazines, two AK magazines, one INSAS LMG magazine, 25 live AK rounds, seven 12-bore cartridges, and a Baofeng radio handset along with a charger. In a separate operation on the same day, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned KCP (PWG) outfit. The accused, identified as Komol Muktar Abas alias Karati (25), was apprehended from his residence at Yairipok Tulihal Toupokpi under Andro Police Station in Imphal East district.
Another operation led to the arrest of an active cadre associated with PREPAK (PRO). The individual, identified as Yanglem Anaoba Singh alias Yamba (23), a resident of Singjamei Chingamakha Yanglem Leirak in Imphal West district, was detained from the eastern side of Hiyangthang Bridge under Wangoi Police Station. Police officials said investigations are ongoing and security operations in vulnerable areas of the state continue.
