Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI), underwent a scheduled follow-up eye treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Tuesday. Medical officials confirmed that he was clinically stable following the procedure. Khan, who is currently lodged at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, was transported to the Islamabad hospital under tight security arrangements. The visit was part of his ongoing treatment for a serious eye condition that has reportedly affected his vision.

Medical Examination and Injection Procedure

Before administering the injection, a board of specialist doctors conducted a thorough medical examination. The evaluation included cardiac tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiogram, along with a general health assessment to ensure Khan was fit for the procedure.

Doctors confirmed that his vital signs were normal and declared him clinically stable. Following clearance, ophthalmologists administered the second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection, a treatment commonly used for retinal disorders to prevent further vision deterioration and preserve eyesight. The procedure was carried out in a controlled surgical environment under strict medical protocols, with a vitreoretinal specialist supervising the treatment.

Condition Stable, Returned to Jail

Hospital authorities stated that Khan remained stable throughout the procedure and experienced no complications. He was treated under a day-care surgery protocol and discharged later the same day. After completing the treatment and post-procedure monitoring, he was transported back to Adiala Jail with medical instructions and recommendations for continued follow-up care.

Ongoing Treatment Plan

Medical sources indicated that this injection is part of a multi-stage treatment plan designed to address Khan’s retinal condition. At least one more follow-up injection is expected in the coming weeks, depending on his recovery and medical evaluation.

Health Concerns Remain Politically Sensitive

Imran Khan’s health has remained a subject of political and public concern since his imprisonment. PTI leaders and supporters have repeatedly emphasized the need for proper medical care and transparency regarding his condition. While doctors have now confirmed that he is clinically stable, his ongoing treatment and recovery are likely to remain closely monitored given his political prominence and continued legal challenges.

The latest medical update offers reassurance regarding his immediate health, but his long-term vision recovery will depend on the success of the full course of treatment and continued medical supervision.
