President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her heartfelt greetings to the Indian Army on the occasion of Army Day, calling it a moment to honour the bravery, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of the soldiers who serve the nation with unwavering commitment. In her message, she highlighted that the Indian Army has always upheld the finest traditions of professionalism, courage, and duty — whether defending the country’s borders or providing lifesaving assistance during natural disasters. She also praised the Army’s exceptional performance and significant achievements in Operation Sindoor.

The President described the Army as the backbone of India’s national security and expressed pride in its continued service. She reaffirmed the nation’s deep gratitude to the soldiers and wished them continued success, strength, and honour in fulfilling their noble responsibilities. President Murmu further expressed confidence that the Indian Army would remain a vital force in nation-building, supporting economic growth and inclusive development. Saluting the troops, she reiterated the country’s enduring respect and appreciation for their service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the Army on Army Day, stating that the courage and steadfast dedication of Indian soldiers symbolize selfless service and inspire pride and gratitude across the nation. He acknowledged the difficult conditions under which they safeguard the country and praised their unwavering sense of duty. Army Day is observed annually on January 15 to mark the historic occasion in 1949 when Field Marshal KM Cariappa assumed command of the Indian Army from British Commander-in-Chief General Sir FRR Bucher, becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of independent India.
