Nida Khan, accused in a case involving alleged forced religious conversion at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services, is currently in Mumbai and expecting her first child, her family has said. Reportedly on the run, she has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail, with her pregnancy likely cited as a significant factor. Authorities are expected to verify her claims through official medical examination as the Special Investigation Team continues efforts to locate her.

The 25-year-old joined the company’s BPO unit in Nashik in 2021. The case involves multiple complaints related to sexual harassment and forced religious conversion at the office. Police are investigating nine such complaints and have already arrested seven employees, including six men and a woman who served as the HR head. These individuals have since been suspended.

A Special Investigation Team was set up recently to examine complaints filed by eight women employees, who alleged that they faced mental and sexual harassment from senior colleagues while their concerns were ignored by the HR department. The incidents are said to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.

According to the police, one accused allegedly maintained a physical relationship with a colleague under the false promise of marriage, while also engaging in inappropriate behavior and making offensive remarks. Authorities further claimed that complaints made by victims were not acted upon by senior officials, effectively enabling the misconduct. In another instance, an employee was allegedly forced to perform religious practices against his will and was subjected to insults targeting his faith.

Those arrested have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR head Ashwini Chainani. The company has reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy toward harassment and stated that it is fully cooperating with the investigation. It confirmed that swift action was taken once the issue came to light, including suspending the employees under scrutiny. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran described the allegations as deeply troubling and confirmed that a thorough internal investigation is underway, led by the company’s Chief Operating Officer. He emphasized that the matter is being handled with seriousness and that the company is extending full cooperation to authorities while working to identify those responsible.
