Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, branding it as the "B Team" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. She accused Congress of playing a double game in politics—posing as an opponent of the BJP while indirectly helping it retain power. Mayawati also continued her tirade against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning his leadership abilities and the party’s commitment to taking on the BJP effectively.
In her sharp remarks, Mayawati claimed that Congress has failed to position itself as a strong opposition force, instead making strategic blunders that ultimately benefit the ruling party. She argued that Congress’s weakening influence in various states and its inconsistent approach to governance have rendered it ineffective against the BJP’s political dominance. According to her, rather than challenging the BJP on key national issues, Congress has focused on political opportunism, often prioritizing its own survival over a united opposition front.
The BSP chief has been a vocal critic of both the BJP and Congress, frequently accusing them of neglecting the interests of marginalized communities, particularly Dalits and backward classes. She has often maintained that neither of the two national parties has worked sincerely for social justice and that both have exploited weaker sections of society for electoral gains. Her latest attack on Congress reinforces her party’s stance of maintaining an independent identity and not aligning with either of the two major national parties.
Mayawati’s remarks also reflect the broader tensions within the opposition as different parties strategize for upcoming elections. While some regional parties have called for a united opposition to challenge the BJP, Mayawati has remained firm in her belief that both Congress and BJP are two sides of the same coin. By attacking Rahul Gandhi and his party, she is positioning the BSP as a distinct alternative, hoping to strengthen its voter base among Dalits, Muslims, and other marginalized groups.
With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, the political battle is intensifying, and opposition parties are struggling to define their roles. Mayawati’s sharp criticism of Congress signals that alliances remain uncertain, and regional parties like the BSP are keen on carving out their own electoral space rather than relying on traditional opposition dynamics. Her remarks are expected to further fuel the ongoing debate over the credibility and effectiveness of Congress as a leading opposition force against the BJP in the national political landscape.
