J-K: Two terrorists killed in joint operation by security forces in Udhampur

Two terrorists were killed during a joint intelligence-led counter-terrorism operation carried out by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district during the intervening night of September 16 and 17. The operation was launched in the Brattal area after security agencies received confirmed intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists in the region. Personnel from the White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) joined forces to conduct the operation.

Despite challenging weather conditions, difficult terrain and limited visibility, the security forces continued with the mission and successfully neutralised two terrorists, according to the White Knight Corps. The operation has not yet concluded, with troops continuing search, surveillance and area-dominance activities to detect any additional threats. Security personnel remain deployed across the area as efforts continue to ensure that no other terrorists are hiding in the vicinity.

The encounter followed a search operation launched late Wednesday evening in the Majalta area after security forces received reports of suspicious movement. In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said that verified intelligence had pointed to the presence of terrorists in the general Brattal area of Udhampur. It said troops from the White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF subsequently launched a coordinated counter-terrorism operation.

Officials said the operation was conducted under adverse conditions, including difficult terrain and poor visibility, but security forces maintained the operation through the night. Further details about the identities of the slain terrorists and the recovery of weapons or other material are expected as the search operation progresses.
