Operation Sheruwali entered its 34th day on Thursday, with security forces continuing extensive search operations in the dense Dorimal forests of the Gambhir Mughlan region in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security agencies, remain actively involved in the ongoing mission. A large-scale surveillance and combing exercise is being carried out across the forested terrain, with forces maintaining heightened vigilance throughout the area.

Officials said security agencies are working in close coordination as the operation continues. Search teams have intensified monitoring efforts and are maintaining a strong presence in the region to prevent any security threats and ensure the operation's objectives are successfully achieved. Authorities stated that the mission remains active, with forces conducting systematic searches and keeping a close watch on the area. Additional security arrangements have also been put in place as a precautionary measure.

According to officials, the operation will continue until the entire area is thoroughly cleared and all operational goals have been met. Launched in late May, Operation Sheruwali is a major counter-terrorism initiative focused on the rugged and heavily forested Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt of Rajouri district. The multi-agency effort aims to track down and eliminate suspected infiltrators believed to be hiding in the challenging mountainous landscape.

The prolonged duration of the operation underscores the commitment of security forces to maintaining peace and stability in the border district. On June 16, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and three Army soldiers sustained injuries after an accidental mine explosion during a routine patrol near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector.

Police officials said the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when personnel from 4 Kumaon were carrying out patrol duties in a forward LoC area. During the patrol, a mine accidentally detonated, leaving four Army personnel injured. The wounded soldiers were quickly evacuated from the location, provided immediate medical care, and later shifted to the Army's Command Hospital in Udhampur for advanced treatment.
