J&K Man Allegedly Tries to Frame Ex-Lover's Husband in Drug Case With Courier From Kanpur

Srinagar: A peculiar case involving an alleged attempt to frame a poultry businessman in a drug case has surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir, with police investigating a suspected conspiracy linked to a past relationship. The case came to light in Ganderbal after police received information about a courier containing suspected narcotic substances. The parcel, which had reportedly been sent from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was addressed to a poultry businessman in the area. According to reports citing police sources, the package contained cocaine, charas and diclofenac tablets.

The businessman reportedly told investigators that he had been contacted from an unknown number and was given the impression that the parcel contained material connected with poultry feed or business-related samples. This raised questions about how the package had been sent in his name and whether he had any knowledge of its actual contents. As police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the courier, they reportedly uncovered a possible personal motive behind the alleged attempt. Investigators learned that the businessman had recently married and began examining the background of his wife and her previous relationships.

Police now suspect that a man who had allegedly been in a relationship with the woman before her marriage may have planned to implicate her husband in a narcotics case. Investigators are examining whether the alleged drug consignment was deliberately sent to the businessman in an attempt to create evidence against him and cause legal trouble.

The probe subsequently led police to a suspect in Srinagar. Ganderbal Police reportedly detained a man from the Zainakot area and questioned him about the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are also trying to determine whether other people were involved in arranging the parcel, procuring the suspected narcotics or facilitating its dispatch from Kanpur.

The origin of the drugs and the precise circumstances in which the courier was booked remain key parts of the investigation. Police are also looking into the communications between the people allegedly connected to the case to establish how the plan may have been organised. The incident has drawn attention because of the unusual alleged motive behind the suspected drug plot. While narcotics cases normally focus on the movement and distribution of illegal substances, investigators in this case are also examining whether the courier system was allegedly misused to create a false trail against an individual.
