Indian diplomatic missions across the Gulf have intensified support for stranded travellers following large-scale flight disruptions caused by temporary airspace closures in parts of West Asia. The Embassy of India in Kuwait said it is “fully engaged” in assisting Indian nationals affected by the situation. In a post on X, the mission stated that officials are in constant touch with stranded passengers and are coordinating closely with Kuwaiti authorities, hotel managements, and airlines to provide necessary support.

At the same time, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways announced the suspension of all scheduled commercial flights to and from Abu Dhabi until 2 pm (UAE time) on Wednesday, March 4. In an operational update, the airline said select repositioning, cargo, and repatriation flights may operate in coordination with UAE authorities, subject to strict safety clearances.

Etihad advised passengers not to travel to the airport unless contacted directly by the airline. Travellers have been urged to verify their flight status online and ensure their contact details are updated in their bookings. The airline also said that passengers holding tickets issued on or before February 28 for travel up to March 7 can rebook free of charge on Etihad-operated flights until March 18. Refund options are available for those impacted.

Budget carrier SpiceJet reported multiple cancellations of UAE flights due to the airspace restrictions. Separately, Akasa Air announced it would operate select services to and from Jeddah on March 3 and 4 after completing a comprehensive safety review. The airline confirmed Mumbai–Jeddah and Ahmedabad–Jeddah flights on specified dates, noting that operations remain subject to prevailing conditions. Akasa Air said flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait, and Riyadh will stay suspended until March 4. Emphasizing that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority, the airline urged travellers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

The Embassy of India in Saudi Arabia announced that IndiGo will operate special flights from Jeddah to India to help stranded passengers return home. Authorities and airlines continue to closely monitor the evolving situation in the Gulf, with safety evaluations determining the phased resumption of flight services across the region.
