'I feel fortunate to have worked with her,' Annu Kapoor reflects on Asha Bhosle's unparalleled greatness.

The music industry is grieving the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. Her demise has deeply affected artists, fans, and the film fraternity, with heartfelt tributes pouring in for one of India’s most cherished voices. Veteran actor Annu Kapoor expressed his sorrow while remembering her legacy. He described people as “fortunate” to have witnessed and collaborated with her, emphasizing that Asha Bhosle had achieved the pinnacle of musical excellence.
Speaking about her passing, he said the news left him deeply saddened and at a loss for words, adding that she was among the rare artists who reached the highest levels of greatness, and her absence will be profoundly felt. Asha Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday evening due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. According to Dr. Pratit Samdani, she died as a result of multi-organ failure.
Born in 1933, she began her musical journey early and rose to fame in the 1950s. Over a remarkable career spanning decades, she recorded thousands of songs in multiple Indian languages, excelling across genres such as classical, ghazals, cabaret, pop, and Her death marks the end of a significant era in Indian music. She is survived by her son Anand and her grandchildren.
