Hardeep Puri holds talks with S&P chief on energy markets and strengthening supply resilience.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday met Dave Ernsberger, President of S&P Global, to discuss global energy trends, supply resilience, and India’s shift towards sustainable energy sources. Sharing details on X, Puri described the meeting as productive and said their discussions focused on the demand-supply dynamics in global energy markets and the importance of building resilient supply chains. He highlighted that India is rapidly advancing initiatives such as green hydrogen, biofuel blending, and other alternative fuels, while also intensifying domestic exploration and production activities.
According to Puri, these combined efforts are aimed at creating a resilient, sustainable, and future-ready energy ecosystem. He emphasized that India is adopting a balanced approach by strengthening conventional energy production alongside expanding clean energy solutions.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami earlier met Puri at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi to raise concerns over the state’s energy requirements. He requested that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders be maintained at 100 percent to ensure the smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra. Dhami noted that the annual pilgrimage, which runs from April to November, attracts lakhs of devotees, significantly increasing the demand for LPG. He stated that the state requires around 967,949 commercial LPG cylinders during this period to meet operational needs.
Highlighting Uttarakhand’s vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly during the monsoon season, Dhami also sought an additional five percent allocation of LPG cylinders, amounting to about 48,397 cylinders. He stressed that this additional supply would be crucial for disaster response and relief operations, given the state’s challenging terrain and heavy reliance on tourism.
