Fresh snowfall was reported in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, causing a noticeable dip in temperatures, while rain lashed multiple areas, including Shimla city. The Atal Tunnel in Rohtang experienced fresh snow, further intensifying the cold in the region. In Shimla, rainfall was observed at The Ridge and surrounding localities, reflecting a shift in weather conditions across the state.

In neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir, the higher reaches of the Banihal mountains also received fresh snowfall, adding to the already chilly conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread light to moderate rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on April 8, with chances of isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Wind speeds may range between 40–50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph in certain areas.

The IMD further indicated that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to continue experiencing scattered to fairly widespread rain and snowfall on April 9 and 10, while similar conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh on April 9. These weather activities may also be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph.

This fresh spell of snowfall in higher altitudes and rainfall in lower regions has led to a drop in temperatures across both states, signaling a seasonal shift in weather patterns. Such conditions are common during this time of year and can disrupt daily life, particularly in hilly areas where snowfall often impacts road connectivity and travel. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the weather activity is expected to continue over the coming days. Residents and travellers have been advised to stay alert due to the possibility of rain, snowfall, and strong winds.
