Fourth Batch of Devotees Sets Off for Amarnath Yatra from Pahalgam's Nunwan Camp

The fourth batch of devotees undertaking the Amarnath Yatra 2026 left the Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam on Monday morning, continuing their pilgrimage to the revered Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine in the Himalayas. The 57-day annual pilgrimage began on July 3 and will continue until August 28, concluding on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. To ensure a safe and well-organized yatra, authorities have implemented advanced security measures, including digital surveillance systems and RFID-based tracking to monitor pilgrim movement and manage crowds effectively.
A day before the latest batch departed, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Nunwan Base Camp to assess preparations for the pilgrimage. During the inspection, he held detailed discussions with senior officials regarding security arrangements, pilgrim movement, accommodation facilities, registration procedures, and other logistical requirements.
Sharing details of his visit on X, the Lieutenant Governor said that the administration is committed to providing a secure and comfortable experience for all devotees. He instructed officials to give top priority to the safety, security, and convenience of pilgrims while ensuring that only those carrying valid registration with designated travel dates proceed on the yatra to reduce waiting times and improve crowd management.
LG Sinha also interacted with pilgrims at the base camp, assuring them that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and all departments involved in managing the pilgrimage are working around the clock to facilitate a smooth and hassle-free spiritual journey. To further strengthen emergency preparedness, the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has established a round-the-clock emergency response camp along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Sub-Inspector Kartar Singh of the SDRF stated that the camp was set up under the directions of the Additional Director General of Police. He said the deployment includes around 20 personnel from both the SDRF and the Home Guard, who have been stationed along the highway to provide immediate assistance and ensure the safety of pilgrims throughout the Amarnath Yatra.
