His return signals confidence in his ability to bring humor and engagement to the prestigious event. In a statement released by the Academy, O’Brien joked, “The only reason I’m hosting the Oscars next year is that I want to hear Adrien Brody finish his speech,” referencing the actor’s lengthy acceptance speech for his role in The Brutalist.
Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich expressed enthusiasm for O’Brien’s return, stating, “I’m excited to have his talents back onstage next year to helm another indelible performance.” The 2026 Oscars will also see the return of Emmy-winning producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, who will serve as executive producers for the third consecutive year.
O’Brien is widely known for his work as a late-night talk show host, having led Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and Conan. His comedic timing and industry experience have made him a popular figure in entertainment, making his return to the Oscars a highly anticipated event.
