A technical issue prompted an Air India flight from Mumbai to Bhopal to carry out a precautionary landing.

An Air India flight traveling from Mumbai to Bhopal made a precautionary landing in Bhopal on April 26 after a suspected technical issue, the airline confirmed. According to the airline, the crew of flight AI633 opted for the precautionary landing as per standard safety procedures. The airline stated that the aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew disembarked without any problems. The plane was then inspected while alternate arrangements were made to transport passengers to their destination.
Air India also introduced its first refurbished twin-aisle Boeing 787-8 (VT-ANT), completing a full cabin overhaul of the first among 26 such aircraft, as per an official release. The upgrade work was carried out at Boeing’s facility in Victorville, California, followed by repainting in the airline’s new livery at AeroPro in San Bernardino.
The retrofit involved a complete redesign of the cabin, upgrading it from a two-class to a modern three-class layout. New seats, carpets, wall panels, and an in-flight entertainment system were installed, aligning the aircraft with the airline’s latest widebody standards, similar to its newer Boeing 787-9 introduced earlier in 2026. The first aircraft retrofit required around 12,825 manhours over 45 days, involving a detailed process that included removing old interiors, reconfiguring cabins, upgrading galleys and lavatories, and conducting extensive testing of the new installations.
