During his two-day visit to Assam, Modi participated in the Jhumoir Binandini (Mega Jhumoir) 2025 event and prepared to inaugurate the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior government officials joined him, reinforcing Assam’s commitment to economic and cultural development. Addressing the gathering in Assamese, Modi acknowledged Assam’s cultural diversity and pride. More than 60 ambassadors and diplomats from various countries attended, witnessing Assam’s vibrant traditions and exploring its economic potential.
PM Modi’s Visit to Kaziranga and Assamese Language Recognition: During his speech, Modi spoke about Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to stop at Kaziranga, highlighting its biodiversity on an international platform. His government’s initiatives included recognizing Assamese as a classical language, fulfilling a long-standing demand of Assam’s people.

Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed Modi’s visit, describing it as a moment of great fortune for the state. He expressed gratitude that Assam was among the first states Modi visited after assuming office for the third consecutive term as Prime Minister. Sarma praised Modi’s commitment to Assam’s progress, emphasizing the deep bond between the Prime Minister and the state. Mega Jhumoir 2025 Showcases Assam’s Tea Industry and Cultural Heritage: The Jhumoir Binandini (Mega Jhumoir) 2025 event in Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati, celebrated Assam’s tea garden community and its contributions to the state’s economy. The occasion was a major highlight of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.
Dignitaries, including Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and foreign diplomats, attended the event, which featured a grand Jhumoir dance performance by over 8,000 artists. This traditional folk dance, deeply rooted in Assam’s Tea Tribe and Adivasi communities, symbolized unity and cultural identity. The event marked 200 years of Assam’s tea industry and industrial progress.
Government Support for Artists and Tea Gardens: The Assam government announced financial assistance for artists and tea garden communities, ensuring the preservation and promotion of the traditional Jhumoir dance. This initiative aimed to protect Assam’s cultural legacy while empowering the people who sustain it. Modi’s visit and the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit reinforced Assam’s position as a cultural and economic hub, paving the way for increased investments in infrastructure, tourism, and the tea industry.
