Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is grieving the loss of his father, veteran star Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24. After maintaining a low profile, Sunny made his first public appearance since the bereavement at the teaser launch of his upcoming film Border 2, where he appeared visibly moved while speaking to the audience.

The Border 2 teaser was unveiled at a large event in Mumbai on Vijay Diwas, attended by cast members Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. During his address, Sunny delivered a powerful line from the film and repeated it with the same intensity seen in the teaser after the audience responded. The moment became emotional as the actor struggled to hold back tears, drawing attention from everyone present.

This appearance marked Sunny Deol’s return to the public eye following his father’s death. Dharmendra had been admitted to hospital earlier in November due to health concerns and was later discharged. At the time, false reports about his demise were denied by Esha Deol and Hema Malini. Dharmendra passed away on November 24 and was laid to rest at the Pawan Hans crematorium, with several prominent Bollywood personalities attending the funeral.

Recently, Sunny shared a heartfelt video of Dharmendra enjoying a mountain view on what would have been his 90th birthday, expressing that his father continues to live on in his heart. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is presented by T Series in association with JP Films. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, J P Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, the war drama features Diljit Dosanjh, Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty in lead roles, with several others in supporting roles. Inspired by the 1971 Indo Pak war, the film is slated for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, ahead of the Republic Day weekend.
