Actor Sara Arjun attended the sacred Bhasma Aarti at the Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple on Saturday, immersing herself in one of Hinduism’s most revered spiritual rituals. Following the visit, she expressed deep emotional gratitude, sharing that she felt overwhelmed and experienced a sense of joy beyond words. Quoting a devotional phrase, she conveyed that being called to the temple felt divine, adding that there is no greater feeling in the world than this moment of spiritual connection.

The Bhasma Aarti, a unique ritual involving the offering of sacred ash to the deity, is considered among the most significant ceremonies at the temple. It takes place during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 am and 5:30 am, when devotees gather in large numbers to witness the divine proceedings.

As per religious beliefs, attending this ritual is highly auspicious and is said to fulfil the wishes of devotees. The ceremony begins with the early morning opening of the temple doors, followed by the ceremonial bathing of the deity with Panchamrit, a sacred mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey.

After the ritual bath, the deity is adorned with traditional elements like hemp and sandalwood. This is followed by the Bhasma Aarti and dhoop-deep Aarti, performed with devotional chants, rhythmic drumbeats, and the resonating sound of conch shells, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The Mahakaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense religious significance, attracting devotees from across India and beyond.
