Rs 2.7 Crore Plot, Agricultural Lands Emerge in Hyderabad Doctor Assets Probe

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has uncovered more properties and financial records during its investigation into a disproportionate assets case involving a senior doctor at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). The latest searches reportedly brought to light an open plot in Hyderabad’s MLA Colony area of Banjara Hills with a recorded value of around Rs 2.70 crore. The agency is also examining documents relating to three agricultural land parcels in Maheshwaram, estimated to be worth around Rs 57 lakh.

According to the ACB, the Banjara Hills plot is located in Venkateswara Cooperative Housing Society. Documents for the property were reportedly found in the name of D Ganesh, an outsourcing employee associated with NIMS. Investigators are examining the ownership records and the source of funds used to acquire the property.

The searches were conducted as part of the probe against Dr Nori Lakshmi Bhasker, Additional Medical Superintendent and Additional Professor at NIMS. The ACB has alleged that several assets and financial transactions linked to the case require further verification. Officials also reportedly found documents relating to two investments worth approximately Rs 20 lakh and receipts concerning hand loans totalling around Rs 3 lakh.

The agency recovered approximately Rs 4.94 lakh in cash from the residence of Dhanraj, a barber working at NIMS. The ACB is examining his financial links with the accused doctor and whether assets or funds were held through other individuals. The latest discoveries follow searches conducted by the ACB at multiple locations connected to Bhasker and people associated with him. During those searches, investigators reported identifying several residential flats, open plots and other properties in Hyderabad and elsewhere.

The agency had also reported the recovery of around 517.8 grams of gold ornaments and details of several vehicles, including a Jaguar, Audi and Tata Nexon. Various bank accounts, deposits and investments were also examined as part of the investigation. The ACB has alleged that the assets identified so far require scrutiny in relation to Bhasker’s known sources of income. The agency is examining property documents, financial transactions and the relationship between the accused and individuals whose names appear in some of the records. The disproportionate assets case was registered on September 21 under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation is continuing, and the properties and transactions identified by the ACB remain subject to verification and further legal proceedings.
