On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi extended his greetings to CRPF personnel on Valour Day and said that a Congress-led government would abolish what he described as a “discriminatory system” that prevents CAPF personnel from leading their own forces. In a message shared on X, he praised the bravery and sacrifices of CRPF personnel, acknowledging their role in protecting the nation, maintaining internal security, combating terrorism and Naxalism, and ensuring peaceful elections.

He pointed out that despite years of dedicated service, CAPF personnel are often denied timely promotions and leadership roles, as senior positions are typically reserved for officers from outside the forces. According to him, this not only affects career growth but also undermines fairness and morale.

Gandhi emphasized that CAPF personnel possess the necessary training, field experience, and strategic understanding, making it important for leadership to come from within the force itself. He also highlighted long-standing concerns related to pay, welfare, and respect, calling the situation an “institutional injustice.”

Reaffirming his party’s support, he said Congress values CAPF personnel highly and promised that, if in power, it would ensure they receive rightful opportunities, leadership roles, and recognition. CRPF Valour Day, observed on April 9, commemorates the bravery of CRPF personnel who fought against a major attack by the Pakistan Army in 1965 at Sardar Post in the Rann of Kutch, where they displayed exceptional courage and resilience.
