Dozens of protesters gathered in central London on Saturday to condemn recent lynchings of Hindu men in Bangladesh and call for justice and protection for religious minorities in the South Asian nation. Organised by British human rights activists and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora, the demonstration took place near the Bangladesh High Commission, where participants carried placards and chanted slogans condemning violence and urging international attention to ongoing incidents of communal violence.

Speaking at the protest, organisers highlighted two recent cases in which Hindu men  including Dipu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal  were killed in mob attacks in Bangladesh. They alleged that these lynchings were part of a worrying pattern of targeted violence against religious minorities and called on the Bangladeshi government to take immediate action to ensure accountability and safeguard vulnerable communities. Protesters also criticised what they described as inadequate responses from law enforcement authorities in Bangladesh and urged international institutions, including the United Nations and human rights bodies, to intervene and pressure Dhaka to uphold protections for minority rights.

One speaker said that violence against Hindus and other minorities not only reflects a breakdown in law and order but also threatens the secular fabric of Bangladesh’s society. Participants called for transparent investigations into the killings and justice for the victims’ families. The demonstration attracted supporters from a range of community and faith groups, as well as human rights advocates. Several speakers stressed the broader implications of mob violence, warning that unchecked attacks on minorities could embolden extremist elements and undermine long-term social harmony.

London’s Metropolitan Police maintained a presence at the event and described the protest as peaceful and orderly. No incidents of disorder were reported during or after the gathering. The protest comes amid heightened concern among diaspora communities over a series of violent episodes in Bangladesh that have drawn international attention. Organisers said they plan to maintain pressure through further demonstrations and by reaching out to legislators and human rights organisations in the United Kingdom and abroad. Protesters ended the event with a pledge to continue advocating for justice and to amplify the voices of those affected by communal violence in Bangladesh.
