President Murmu visits the Army Training Command headquarters in Shimla.

President Droupadi Murmu, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, visited the Headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday. On her arrival, she was welcomed by Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC.

The President was briefed by the GOC-in-C about the evolution of ARTRAC, its key role in training Indian Army personnel, and its contribution to improving operational efficiency. She was also informed about various important initiatives undertaken by the command. These initiatives include enhanced focus on drone training, adoption of advanced and niche technologies, the introduction of “Red Teaming” concepts, and increased efforts toward digitisation and automation within the Army.

The President appreciated ARTRAC’s wide-ranging responsibilities, which include shaping modern warfare concepts, developing resources for the Army, and engaging with friendly foreign countries as well as sister services. She noted that ARTRAC plays a vital role in strengthening professionalism within the Army through its 32 premier training institutions.

She also discussed aspects of military training with Lt. Gen. Devendra Sharma, emphasizing its importance in ensuring national security and strength. Encouraging the personnel, President Murmu urged ARTRAC to continue enhancing the Army’s operational readiness. She praised all officers, soldiers, and civilian staff for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain their commitment and enthusiasm in their work.
