President Murmu is set to inaugurate the Delhi government's welfare programs for women today.

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate four women’s welfare schemes of the Delhi government on Monday at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The initiatives include the ‘Saheli Pink Smart Card’, a free LPG cylinder scheme, Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, and ‘Meri Punji Mera Adhikaar’, officials said. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the launch as the start of a “new era of women empowerment, digital transparency, and social security” in the city.
The Pink Smart Card, integrated with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) system, will provide free bus travel for eligible women and transgender residents. It can also be used for paid Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System travel via a single contactless card. Cards will be distributed at around 50 DM/SDM offices and select DTC centers, with eligibility verified through Aadhaar and linked to the beneficiary’s mobile number. The Chief Minister highlighted that the card would make public transport more accessible, safe, and digital.
The free LPG cylinder scheme will provide two cylinders during festivals through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The subsidy, equivalent to the cost of one cylinder, will be credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the head of the family. About 15.5 lakh ration card-holding families are expected to benefit.
The Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana aims to financially empower daughters. Under this program, Rs 56,000 will be deposited in a girl child’s name in installments, expected to grow to over Rs 1 lakh by age 21 with interest. The maturity amount will be transferred directly to an Aadhaar-linked bank account, contingent on educational criteria. Eligibility includes a family income of up to Rs 1.2 lakh per year, Delhi residency for the past three years, and the girl being born in Delhi. Benefits apply to a maximum of two living daughters per family and cover graduate or professional diploma students from recognized institutions.
The fourth initiative, ‘Meri Punji Mera Adhikaar’, ensures timely and transparent settlement of pending financial dues for citizens. Delhi CM emphasized that all these schemes align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Digital India’ and women’s empowerment, aiming to create a modern, digital, transparent, and inclusive social security system in the capital.
