Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez held extensive talks in New Delhi aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and identifying fresh areas of cooperation between the two countries. Sharing details of the meeting on X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that both leaders reviewed the overall progress in India-Venezuela ties and explored opportunities to further deepen collaboration across multiple sectors. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments of shared interest.

During the discussions, India and Venezuela reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation and working together to promote the interests of the Global South. External Affairs Minister S. Rodriguez arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a five-day official visit focused on boosting bilateral ties. Welcoming her arrival, the Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would help both nations build on the existing momentum in their partnership and create new opportunities for cooperation. The MEA noted that Rodriguez’s visit, scheduled from June 3 to June 7, includes high-level bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi and other senior Indian leaders.

She was initially expected to attend the International Big Cat Alliance Summit on June 1, but the event was later postponed. Instead, she is now undertaking a formal working visit accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Venezuela’s ministers responsible for foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communication and information, and transportation. Officials from both countries are expected to hold discussions on expanding cooperation in areas such as energy security, trade and investment, renewable energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and transportation.
