Nvidia Announces October Launch for RTX Spark AI Computers

Nvidia said on Thursday that Lenovo and Acer are set to introduce the first Windows PCs powered by its RTX Spark chip in October, as the company expands its push to bring advanced artificial intelligence features directly to personal computers. The move comes as major technology companies increasingly focus on on-device AI, allowing computers to process AI workloads locally rather than relying entirely on cloud infrastructure. Local processing can help reduce cloud computing costs while also offering users faster responses and potentially stronger privacy by keeping more data on the device.
According to Nvidia, Acer and Lenovo will be among a growing group of PC manufacturers preparing systems based on the RTX Spark platform. The chip pairs Nvidia's Blackwell graphics processing technology with a Grace central processor, creating a system designed to handle demanding AI applications directly on laptops and desktops.
Nvidia introduced RTX Spark in June through a collaboration with Microsoft, describing the initiative as an effort to reshape the traditional PC for the emerging AI era. The companies have reportedly worked together for around three years on the technology, with Taiwan-based MediaTek also involved in developing the chip.
The development comes as competition in AI-capable personal computers intensifies. Apple recently updated its Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop computers with its newest M-series processors, highlighting their ability to run larger AI models and autonomous AI agents directly on the devices.
With more manufacturers adopting dedicated AI hardware, the PC industry is increasingly moving toward computers capable of performing sophisticated AI tasks without constantly sending workloads to remote data centers. Nvidia's RTX Spark-powered systems could become part of that broader shift when the first Lenovo and Acer machines arrive in October.
