The Indore district administration has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against two individuals arrested in connection with a cow slaughter case reported in Mhow, while police continue searching for two other accused who remain absconding, an officer said. According to Rural DSP Umakant Chaudhary, the case was filed on May 29, a day after Eid al-Adha, against four accused — Qadir, Imran, Hashim, and Mohammad Aabad — for alleged involvement in cow slaughter.

“Qadir was arrested at the scene, while the other three fled. Multiple police teams were deployed to trace them, and later Mohammad Aabad was also taken into custody,” Chaudhary told ANI. He added that the Superintendent of Police (Rural) submitted a report to the District Collector recommending action under the NSA, citing several previous cases against the accused, including offences related to cow slaughter and disturbing public order.

“Following the collector’s directive, NSA action was initiated against the two arrested accused on Tuesday, June 2. Legal proceedings will continue as per law. Out of the four accused, two are in custody and booked under the NSA, while Imran and Hashim are still absconding,” the DSP said.

An SIT has been formed by the SP to investigate the matter further, and dedicated teams are working to arrest the remaining accused. The accused have been booked under Sections 4, 5, and 9 of the Madhya Pradesh Govansh Vadh Pratishedh Adhiniyam, along with Section 25(1)(b) of the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing.
