Narendra Modi and Nikos Christodoulides conducted delegation-level discussions in Delhi.

Narendra Modi and Nikos Christodoulides held delegation-level talks in New Delhi on Friday, focusing on strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between India and Cyprus. The meeting was attended by senior Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions were expected to cover a wide range of areas such as trade, investment, technology, education, culture, mobility, defence, and security, along with emerging sectors like artificial intelligence, fintech, innovation, and research. The leaders were also set to exchange views on key regional and global issues, including cooperation in multilateral platforms.
President Christodoulides arrived in India on Thursday after visiting Mumbai earlier in his four-day state visit (May 20–23), undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. The visit marks his first trip to India in his current role and follows PM Modi’s historic visit to Cyprus in June 2025, which helped inject fresh momentum into bilateral ties.
During the visit, President Christodoulides is leading a high-level delegation that includes ministers and business leaders. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the visit underscores the shared commitment to deepening India–Cyprus relations, particularly as Cyprus currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
In Mumbai, the President also attended a business forum aimed at enhancing trade and investment cooperation. With both countries approaching 65 years of diplomatic relations in 2027, the visit is seen as an important step in strengthening economic ties and broader engagement within the India–EU framework.
