Moscow claims Ukrainian drones targeted one of Putin's residences and Trump responds angrily.

Russia has accused Ukraine of launching a significant drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, according to the state-run outlet TASS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed the strike, saying Moscow would respond, though all drones were reportedly destroyed and no casualties or damage occurred.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the claims, calling them “Russian lies” aimed at undermining diplomatic efforts. On X, he stated that the report was a fabrication designed to justify further attacks on Ukraine and to excuse Russia’s reluctance to end the war, while emphasizing ongoing collaboration with the Trump administration to advance peace.
Despite the allegation, Russia said it would continue negotiations but suggested it might reconsider its stance in response to what it labeled “terrorist actions” by Ukraine’s armed forces. The development coincides with efforts by the Trump administration to mediate a peace deal. Trump recently indicated optimism about progress, noting only a few unresolved issues remain.
Reacting to the alleged attack, Trump expressed anger, calling the timing inappropriate and saying, “It’s one thing to be offensive, it’s another thing to attack his house. I was very angry about it,” while speaking ahead of a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago.
