Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has dismissed allegations by the Samajwadi Party (SP) regarding the exploitation of boatmen during the Mahakumbh Mela. Addressing the UP State Legislative Assembly, he shared an inspiring story of a boatman’s family that made an astonishing Rs 30 crore in just 45 days.
He explained that the family, which owned 130 boats, earned around Rs 23 lakh per boat over the duration of the event—amounting to approximately Rs 50,000-52,000 per day. During his visit to Prayagraj on February 27, CM Yogi actively participated in religious ceremonies and a Ganga cleaning drive. He also took the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of health and sanitation workers, police personnel, and security staff who contributed to the event’s success.
UP Government Presents 2025-26 Budget with Focus on Inclusive Growth: Alongside discussions on the Mahakumbh, the Yogi government presented the state budget for 2025-26, emphasizing welfare initiatives for farmers, youth, women, and marginalized communities. CM Yogi reiterated his government’s commitment to inclusive development, asserting that governance is about legacy, not just vote bank politics.
He highlighted UP’s significant financial growth, noting that revenue receipts had risen from Rs 2.56 trillion in 2016-17 to over Rs 4.10 trillion as of January this year. The new budget allocates Rs 2.25 trillion towards capital expenditure, aiming to boost industries, improve supply chains, and attract private investments to generate employment. Reflecting on past budgets, CM Yogi explained how each year’s financial plan had a distinct focus—ranging from farmer welfare in 2017-18 to self-reliance in 2021-22, and a vision for "Lokmangal and Ramrajya" in the 2024-25 budget.
