India is set to dispatch over 15 tonnes of relief material to Myanmar in response to a series of powerful earthquakes, sources revealed. The aid will be transported via an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J aircraft from Air Force Station Hindon, according to sources. The relief consignment includes essential supplies such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, hygiene kits, solar lamps, generator sets, and critical medicines like paracetamol, antibiotics, syringes, gloves, and bandages.

Myanmar and parts of neighboring Thailand experienced significant structural damage and panic following multiple tremors, including a 7.2-magnitude earthquake. On Friday at 11:56 pm (local time), a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 km, increasing the likelihood of aftershocks. The NCS recorded its coordinates at Latitude 22.15 N and Longitude 95.41 E.

In an update on X, the NCS stated, "EQ of M: 4.2, On: 28/03/2025 23:56:29 IST, Lat: 22.15 N, Long: 95.41 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar." Earlier in the day, a powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 11:50 am (local time), sending tremors across Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. Eyewitnesses and media reports described people evacuating swaying buildings in panic. Social media posts showed water sloshing out of swimming pools due to the quake's intensity.

According to the NCS, the 7.2-magnitude earthquake, recorded at a depth of 10 km, was located at Latitude 21.93 N and Longitude 96.07 E. The NCS later reported on X: "EQ of M: 7.2, On: 28/03/2025 11:50:52 IST, Lat: 21.93 N, Long: 96.07 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar." Minutes after the initial quake, an aftershock measuring 6.4 in magnitude followed, with another 4.9-magnitude tremor occurring shortly afterward. These were identified as aftershocks of the initial 7.2-magnitude earthquake.

In Bangkok’s Chatuchak district, a 30-story under-construction skyscraper collapsed due to the tremors, with reports indicating that 43 workers were trapped inside, as cited by The Nation News from Thailand's National Institute for Emergency Medicine. A video obtained by CNN from Myanmar appeared to depict a road bridge spanning the Irrawaddy River in Mandalay collapsing into the river, sending up clouds of dust and water.
