Rising temperatures and humidity are expected to cause discomfort across India this week, with summer conditions prevailing in most regions, including the capital. According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi’s temperature may reach around 41°C by April 17, with hot and humid weather affecting large parts of the country. On April 13, Delhi saw a pleasant morning with clear skies, while daytime winds of 10–20 kmph, gusting up to 30 kmph, are expected. Temperatures in the city may range between 36–38°C (maximum) and 19–21°C (minimum).

The IMD has issued a heatwave alert for parts of western India, particularly Saurashtra and Kutch. Temperatures across northwest India may rise by 4–6°C between April 12 and 18, while central regions like Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh could see a 3–5°C increase. Gujarat and Maharashtra are also likely to experience a gradual rise of 2–3°C. Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist over Odisha, Gujarat, and coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next week, along with similar weather in West Bengal, Maharashtra, and parts of southern India.

Northeastern states are likely to receive widespread rainfall. Areas including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may witness light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30–50 kmph. Some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya could experience isolated heavy rainfall.

Parts of eastern and southern India may also see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with heavy showers possible in regions of West Bengal and Sikkim. Southern states like Karnataka, Kerala, and coastal Andhra Pradesh may experience thunderstorms with gusty winds. Strong surface winds are expected over northwest India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Squally winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are also likely over the north Arabian Sea near the coasts of Iran and Pakistan.
