Gangster Himanshu Sonipat, who is reportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has allegedly taken responsibility for the killing of gangster Vinod Panu alias Kana outside the Hisar court complex, according to a purported social media post. In the post, Himanshu Sonipat allegedly claimed that he was behind the shooting and named Rohit Sonipat alias Budha, Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, claiming that the attack was carried out at their direction. He further alleged that Panu had links with rival groups and suggested that these alleged associations were behind the killing. The post reportedly also included warnings aimed at others.

The authenticity of the social media post has not been independently established. Police are examining the online claim as part of their investigation and will need to determine whether the account and statements attributed to Himanshu Sonipat are genuine. The purported claim surfaced a day after Vinod Panu alias Kana was shot dead on August 20 near the Hisar court premises. Police said Panu had arrived at the court for a scheduled appearance when the attackers opened fire in the parking area.

According to preliminary information, approximately 14 rounds were fired during the incident. Police teams reached the location shortly after the shooting and began collecting evidence. One suspected attacker was reportedly caught at the scene, and a weapon was recovered. Two other people were also said to have suffered injuries in the firing.

Forensic personnel subsequently examined the crime scene as investigators worked to establish the exact sequence of events. Police have also launched a search for other individuals who may have been involved. Panu was reportedly facing around 32 criminal cases, including murder-related charges, according to police. His court appearance on the day of the shooting is also being examined as investigators try to establish the circumstances and possible motive behind the attack.

Multiple police teams have been assigned to the case to identify all those involved and determine whether additional accused persons were connected to the shooting. The alleged social media confession has now emerged as an important lead. Investigators will have to verify the authenticity of the post, establish who was operating the account and determine whether the individuals named in the message had any role in the Hisar court murder.
