Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, is gradually enhancing its Grok chatbot with features that make it more competitive with platforms like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. The latest update introduces a memory function, enabling Grok to remember past interactions and provide more personalized, context-aware responses.

The memory feature is designed to improve Grok’s understanding of users by recalling previous conversations and adapting its replies based on individual preferences. The company announced the update on X, stating, "Grok now remembers your conversations. When you ask for recommendations or advice, you’ll get personalized responses."

In a follow-up post, the team clarified that users can view and delete specific memories, with a book icon appearing beneath messages to allow easy access to this feature. Currently, this update is available only on the Grok iOS app, with plans to extend it to the Android app soon. xAI emphasized that the memory feature is optional, and users can manage or disable it at any time through the app’s Data Controls section. The function is available in beta on Grok’s website and the iOS and Android apps but is not yet accessible to users in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
