Eggslut has officially shut down its outlet at Scotts Square after operating for nearly four years. The popular American restaurant chain has yet to issue a formal announcement, but a visit to Scotts Square on the morning of March 10 confirmed that the space where Eggslut once operated is now vacant. No official notice explaining the closure has been posted.
This marks Eggslut’s complete exit from the Singapore market, following the closure of its Suntec City outlet last year. A check on the brand’s official website shows that its international locations now include only London and Tokyo, with no mention of Singapore. A Google search also lists Eggslut Scotts Square as “permanently closed.” AsiaOne has reached out to the company for more details.
From Food Truck to Global Sensation: Eggslut was founded in 2011 by American chef and television host Alvin Cailan, beginning as a humble food truck in Los Angeles. The brand quickly gained popularity for its indulgent egg-based sandwiches, which became a cult favorite among food lovers.
In September 2021, Eggslut made its debut in Singapore by opening its first Southeast Asian outlet at Scotts Square. The launch was met with overwhelming excitement, with eager fans forming long queues to try its signature egg sandwiches. The restaurant became a hit for its rich, buttery brioche buns filled with soft scrambled eggs, bacon, and gourmet ingredients.
Despite its initial success, Eggslut’s journey in Singapore has come to an end. The reasons behind the closure remain unclear, but the brand continues to thrive in other international locations. For now, egg lovers in Singapore will have to look elsewhere to satisfy their cravings for Eggslut’s famous sandwiches.
