The Delhi Legislative Assembly and Speaker Vijender Gupta received fresh bomb threats via email, warning of a possible attack at the Assembly premises. Officials said a similar threat was also sent to the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station. The emails were delivered early Tuesday morning, with one reaching the Speaker at 7:49 AM and another sent to the Assembly’s official account at 7:28 AM.

The messages reportedly mentioned several prominent leaders, including Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Following the alerts, security was tightened and a sniffer dog squad was deployed to thoroughly check the premises. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threats.

The Delhi Assembly’s Budget Session began on Monday with the traditional ‘Kheer Ceremony.’ Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the vision of “Viksit Delhi, Harit Delhi,” emphasizing that the budget would play a key role in fulfilling the aspirations of nearly three crore residents. According to an official statement, she described the ceremony as a symbol of prosperity, positivity, and public welfare.

The event was attended by a diverse group, including farmers, students, teachers, doctors, members of the transgender community, women drivers, and media representatives. Farmers also honored the Chief Minister with a ceremonial turban. Several cabinet ministers, MLAs, and other dignitaries were present.

CM Gupta stated that the government’s second budget aims to boost Delhi’s development by improving infrastructure and enhancing living standards. She added that the focus would be on better education, stronger healthcare systems, cleanliness, pollution control, and creating a greener environment. The Budget Session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday.
