David Beckham has launched a global fundraising campaign in partnership with Unicef to support vulnerable girls worldwide. Announced on April 15, the initiative is part of a series of events leading up to his 50th birthday on May 2. As a long-time Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, Beckham expressed concern about the global funding crisis that is disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable children.

The campaign aims to raise funds to protect girls and young women from child marriage, female genital mutilation, violence, and abuse. It will also feature takeovers of Beckham's social media platforms by young women, who will share their personal stories and community efforts. In an Instagram video, Beckham reflected on his 50th birthday milestone, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped him. He shared that as a father of four, he feels fortunate that his children have access to safety, education, and healthcare, emphasizing the stark contrast with the challenges faced by children in the most difficult circumstances worldwide.

Beckham, who became a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador in 2005, will mark 20 years in the role in 2025. That year will also commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 7: The David Beckham Unicef Fund, which has directly supported over one million children in countries like Nepal, Indonesia, and Djibouti.

To kick off his birthday celebrations, Beckham hosted a black-tie event at Cipriani, a favorite Miami restaurant of his and wife Victoria. The gathering included family and high-profile guests like Eva Longoria, Tom Brady, Lionel Messi, and Shaquille O'Neal. Beckham was joined by three of his children—Romeo, Cruz, and Harper—while his eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz were absent. Sporting legends and Hollywood actors, including Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Justin Theroux, and Marc Anthony, also attended.
