An Indian national was killed when Iranian strikes targeted a water desalination plant in Kuwait.

An Indian national was killed in Kuwait following Iranian strikes on a power and water desalination plant, according to the state-run KUNA news agency on Monday. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy reported that a service building at one of its power and water distillation plants was damaged in the attack. Officials described the incident as a “brutal attack,” though the specific plant was not named.
Ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat confirmed that an Indian worker died as a result of the strike, Gulf News reported. Technical and emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to manage the situation and follow the ministry’s emergency protocols. Specialized teams are securing the damaged facilities while coordinating with security authorities and other relevant agencies. The ministry stated that the country’s electricity and water operations remain unaffected.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait expressed condolences over the death and said it is working closely with authorities to provide all possible assistance. In a post on X, the embassy stated: “Embassy of India in Kuwait expresses its deepest condolences at the tragic demise of an Indian national due to an attack on a desalination facility in Kuwait yesterday. The Embassy is closely coordinating with the Kuwaiti authorities to render all possible support and assistance.”
This follows a recent incident in the UAE, where an Indian national was among two people killed when debris from missiles intercepted by the country’s air defense system fell on a street. Iran’s retaliation against joint US and Israeli strikes on Tehran has further escalated tensions across the Gulf region.
