Amitabh Bachchan Pays Special Tribute to UP Police Anthem 'Khaki Ka Sitara'

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has lent his support to Uttar Pradesh Police’s first official anthem, ‘Khaki Ka Sitara’, highlighting the dedication, courage and sacrifice of police personnel. The veteran actor shared the UP Police post on X along with a message portraying khaki-clad officers as stars who shine through their service on the ground.
“Some stars shine in the sky... some wear Khaki and shine on the ground. Khaki Ka Sitara,” Bachchan wrote on his X handle. The actor’s post came soon after the full 6.5-minute version of the anthem was released on YouTube on August 17. The anthem was launched a day earlier by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow.
The project features Bachchan’s voice rendition alongside Padma Shri awardee Shankar Mahadevan, who has provided the vocals and music. Renowned poet and lyricist Alok Shrivastava has written the lyrics, while actor Karan Aanand portrays a police officer in the film. The project was conceptualised, co-written and creatively directed by Rahul Srivastav, IPS, PRO, UP Police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled ‘Khaki Ka Sitara’ on August 14 in the presence of Shankar Mahadevan, Padma Shri Nana Patekar, Alok Shrivastava, Karan Aanand, members of the film and music fraternity, and senior IPS officers and police personnel.
Produced entirely in-house by UP Police, the anthem film was developed and shot over more than a year. Filming began during Mahakumbh 2025 and continued until Independence Day 2026. The visuals showcase police personnel performing a wide range of duties, including crowd management during Mahakumbh, law and order operations, women’s safety, traffic regulation, technology-driven policing, disaster response, relief work and public service.
The film aims to portray the human side of policing, combining courage with compassion, discipline with empathy and enforcement with public support. It also focuses on the officers behind the uniform, many of whom remain on duty during festivals, emergencies and other challenging situations while carrying out their responsibilities without seeking recognition. Speaking at the launch, Shankar Mahadevan called his association with ‘Khaki Ka Sitara’ “one of the special moments of my life”. He dedicated the anthem to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the entire UP Police family.
Quoting lines from the anthem, Mahadevan underlined its central message of commitment and public safety: “Suraksha Aapki, Sankalp Hamara” and “Hum date rahe, hum khade rahe, chattanon jaise ade rahe.” Mahadevan said composing music around the service, courage and determination of police personnel had been an exceptionally meaningful experience and described his involvement with the anthem as one of the cherished achievements of his life.
