Uttarakhand CM Dhami Visits Chamoli Tunnel Accident Site, Reviews Rescue Operations.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Pipalkoti in Chamoli on Thursday to assess the ongoing rescue and relief operations for workers trapped inside a tunnel following an accident. He arrived by helicopter despite challenging weather conditions, with persistent rain and difficult terrain creating additional hurdles for the rescue teams. After reaching the site, Dhami inspected the rescue operation and reviewed arrangements with officials and personnel involved in the evacuation efforts. He sought updates on the progress of the operation and the measures being taken to safely bring out the workers still trapped inside.

Several agencies have been deployed at the accident site, including the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police and the local administration. The teams are working together on rescue, evacuation, medical support, logistics and other emergency requirements. During his visit, Dhami is expected to receive detailed briefings from district officials and the various agencies involved. He will review the progress of the rescue mission and provide directions to ensure that operations continue smoothly despite the adverse weather and difficult conditions.

The Chief Minister is also scheduled to meet workers who have already been rescued and are receiving medical treatment. He will enquire about their health and review the medical assistance and support being provided to them. The state government has reiterated that ensuring the safe evacuation of every trapped worker remains its highest priority. Rescue teams are working around the clock to reach those still inside the tunnel while maintaining necessary safety precautions.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating among all agencies at the site. Given the challenging weather and terrain, rescue personnel have been instructed to remain on high alert and continue operations with urgency. The immediate focus remains on locating and safely evacuating the remaining workers. Rescue and relief teams are continuing their efforts on a war footing while ensuring medical care and other essential support for those who have already been brought out.
