US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Monday met Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora in separate meetings, with talks centred on strengthening India-US relations, along with expanding trade and investment opportunities. Gor shared details of both interactions through posts on his official X account.
Following his meeting with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Gor described the engagement positively, highlighting the importance of continued discussions between the two countries. In a separate meeting with Milind Deora, Gor said the two exchanged views on the India-US partnership and explored ways to further increase bilateral trade and investment.
The meetings come at a time when New Delhi and Washington are working to deepen their strategic partnership, with economic cooperation, trade and investment remaining key areas of engagement. Gors latest meetings follow his recent visit to Kerala, where he toured the states renowned backwaters during his maiden trip to the southern state on August 8. Describing the experience as absolutely incredible, the US envoy said he hoped to return to Kerala in the future.
During his Kerala visit, Gor also met Chief Minister V D Satheesan. Speaking to reporters, he said the meeting was productive and identified several areas where India and the United States could cooperate more closely. Gor later said on X that he had a warm and insightful discussion with Satheesan, with talks covering opportunities in higher education, technology and port infrastructure.
The Kerala chief minister also said the meeting explored possibilities for stronger cooperation between institutions in Kerala and the US. Areas discussed included joint research initiatives, university partnerships and academic exchange programmes. The engagements in Delhi and Kerala underline the broader effort to expand India-US cooperation beyond traditional diplomatic ties and create new avenues for collaboration in trade, education, technology and infrastructure.
