Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav arrived in Delhi early on Tuesday for an official meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss seat-sharing and election strategies for Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Yadav told reporters, Today is our official meeting. We will discuss strategies for Bihar (elections).
On Monday, RJD MP Manoj Jha stated that the meeting would focus on seat-sharing and the alliance between RJD and Congress for the Bihar elections. With the Assembly elections expected in about six months, all political parties are intensifying their preparations. The RJD, regarded as Congresss oldest ally in Bihar, is also part of the INDIA bloc.
The meeting between RJD and Congress is set to take place at Kharges residence. On April 20, Congress President Kharge is scheduled to address a public rally in Bihars Buxar district. Meanwhile, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar has raised concerns about migration in Bihar, organizing a Naukri do rally to urge the state government to curb migration and focus on creating jobs for the youth. On April 7, Kumar was joined by Rahul Gandhi for the rally in Begusarai.
In March, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav for the period of jungle raj and corruption from 1990 to 2005. Shah also announced plans to spend two days a month in Bihar in preparation for the elections. On April 13, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the NDA meeting to strategize for the Assembly elections, with Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary also in attendance.
The elections in Bihar are expected to be fiercely contested, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes Janata Dal (United) led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party, challenging the alliance of Congress, RJD, and left-wing parties. Although the polls are anticipated between October and November, the exact dates have not yet been announced.
