Mumbai Police have collected the blood sample and clothes of actor Saif Ali Khan as part of their investigation into the attack on him at his home last week. According to the remand copy of the accused, Shariful Islam, the clothes Saif was wearing during the attack were seized by the police. Additionally, blood stains were found on the clothes of the accused, leading to the collection of Saif Ali Khan's blood samples. Both Saif’s and the attacker’s clothing, along with the blood samples, have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis to confirm if the blood on the accused's clothes is Saif's.
On Friday, the Bandra Magistrate Court extended the police custody of the accused until January 29, acknowledging significant progress in the investigation and the need to explore further aspects of the case. The court also noted the seriousness of the offense, which will be tried in the sessions court. Mumbai Police suspect that more accomplices might be involved in the attack.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder, later identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who entered the actor's home intending to steal. During a violent struggle, Saif was stabbed in the back and other parts of his body. He was quickly rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment. On Wednesday, Mumbai Police discovered multiple fingerprints of the accused at the scene, including on the stairs, bathroom door, and the handle of Saif's son Jeh’s room. The police believe these fingerprints will be crucial to the investigation.
Before attacking Saif, the accused had attempted to break into three other homes. Saif was discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery on Tuesday.
