KTR-Led BRS Delegation to Call on Telangana Governor Today

A delegation of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), headed by party working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), is scheduled to meet Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The BRS team is expected to discuss matters raised by the party during the ongoing Assembly session, along with recent developments involving its legislators. The proposed meeting comes at a time of growing friction between the BRS and the ruling Congress government, particularly over protests organised by the Opposition during the Assembly session.

The BRS has been accusing the Congress government of failing to deliver on several promises made during the election campaign. KTR and other party leaders were recently detained after taking part in a protest outside the Assembly premises. The Telangana High Court subsequently instructed the police not to stop BRS legislators from entering the Assembly to participate in the ongoing session. The Nampally court on Tuesday declined a police remand request involving BRS MLCs Thatha Madhu and Naveen Reddy. The two legislators had been arrested by Saifabad police in connection with alleged remarks concerning Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. After considering the case, the court rejected the police request for their custody.

Speaking to the media after the courts decision, Madhusudhan Reddy said the verdict had reaffirmed the importance of truth and justice. He alleged that the Revanth Reddy-led government had attempted to put the two BRS leaders behind bars and claimed that the case registered against them was false. He also alleged that the two MLCs were taken into custody during the early hours and were not given adequate time or facilities before being produced before the court. Madhusudhan Reddy thanked BRS leaders KCR, KTR and Harish Rao, along with party MP Ravichandra, for their support. He further asserted that the BRS would return to power and that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would eventually be held accountable.

KTR had earlier welcomed the Nampally courts decision to reject the police remand, describing it as a victory for justice. He also urged the state legislature not to take any hurried action against the two MLCs and said that the Assembly should take note of the judiciarys decision. Justice has prevailed, KTR said, expressing hope that the legislature would also act cautiously and ensure that no premature decision was taken against the legislators.

BRS MLC Naveen Kumar also welcomed the courts decision, calling it a victory for democracy. He alleged that the state government had attempted to silence him and Madhusudhan Reddy but said the courts verdict had established the truth. Naveen Kumar further alleged that government officials had faced pressure in connection with the police remand proceedings. He thanked BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao, KTR, Harish Rao and MP Ravichandra for standing by the two MLCs during the legal proceedings. The meeting between the KTR-led BRS delegation and Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla is expected to draw attention as the political confrontation between the Opposition and the Congress government continues inside and outside the Telangana Assembly.
