Security forces have stepped up search and monitoring activities across the forest areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district as Operation Sherawali entered its 31st day on Monday. The ongoing counter-terror operation continues in the challenging terrain of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan region, where forces are conducting extensive combing missions.
Launched in late May, Operation Sherawali is a major multi-agency security exercise aimed at tracking down and neutralising suspected armed infiltrators believed to be hiding in the dense forest and mountainous areas of Rajouri. The operation involves the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security forces working together to secure the region.
The search operation is focused on the Dorimal-Gambir Mughlan area of the Manjakote sector, where security personnel have been carrying out detailed searches through difficult forest terrain. Officials said teams remain deployed in the area and are maintaining strict surveillance to detect any suspicious activity. Authorities stated that the operation is moving forward according to the planned strategy, with forces maintaining a high level of alertness. Additional checkpoints, area domination patrols, and surveillance measures have also been introduced to strengthen security and protect local communities.
Officials reiterated that security agencies remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in Rajouri, a strategically important border district. Residents have been advised to stay cautious and extend cooperation to security personnel during the ongoing operation. The continued search efforts in the Dorimal forest belt reflect the security forces’ focus on preventing militant activity and ensuring safety across the region.
